PITCHER OF THE WEEK – WARWICK SAUPOLD

Winner:- Warwick Saupold, W4-2, 1.63ERA, 7INN, 0R, 4H, 3BB, 6SO, 0.99WHIP

Pitching dominated this week’s series of games, after last week’s homerthon, with quite a few scoreless innings being thrown by a number of starters, noticeably Warwick Saupold [Perth] who threw 7 against the Bandits, Cavalry’s Mike McGuire 7 against Sydney, Aces Jason Hirsh 5 against the Bite including 7Ks and also Kevin Reese 6 against the Bite.    Also outstanding was Brisbane’s Alex Maestri who kept the powerful Perth line-up quiet giving up only 1ER in 6 innings and striking out 6.   In relief there were noteworthy performances from Adelaide’s Paul Mildren, Brisbane’s Sean Jarrett and Sydney’s Todd Van Steensel among a number of others.

Tough choice to have to separate one of these from the rest – but we give it once again to the Heat’s Warwick Saupold [just ahead of Maestri] for his 7 scoreless innings and 6 SO against the Bandits and the fact that he leads the League in ERA, Innings Pitched [55.1], and WHIP.

Congratulations again Warwick.
