PITCHER OF THE WEEK – ALEX MAESTRI

PITCHING

Winner:- Alex Maestri , W 3-2, 2.82 ERA, 9 INN, 0 ER, 2 H, 4 BB, 4 SO, 1.05 WHIP

One pitching performance stood out this week.

Brisbane’s Alex Maestri threw a complete game against the Cavalry without giving up an earned run and picked up his 3rd win in the process.

Another notable outing was that of Brisbane’s Justin Staatz, in his 1st game for the Bandits, who dominated the Cavalry with 8 scoreless innings although not getting the win which went to his team mate Sean Jarrett.   Adelaide’s Reed Brown also deserves a mention for his 8 inning effort against the powerful Heat line-up to pick up his 1st win of the season.   Once again we need to mention that veteran closer with the Blue Sox Dae-Sung Koo who was surgical in his two Saves against the Aces giving him 6 Saves for the season so far.

But it was a truly outstanding effort from the ‘Italian Stallion’, who spent five years in the Chicago Cubs’ organisation rising to ‘AA’, which earned him the Pitcher of the Week award.   Congratulations Alex.
